raven finds a home at the makerspace

Raven Holston-Turner is a Detroiter and has been making at Mt. Elliott Makerspace (MEM) since 2010. After spending only three years working with other youth and adults, she’s taught hundreds of people how to solder basic electronic projects and actively dreams of realizing ideas that range from cars to roller coasters. Ultimately, she would like to start a business that would be useful in her neighborhood. In 2012, she was invited by Dale Dougherty (co-founder of O’Reilly Media and Publisher of Make Magazine) to speak on a panel called “Meet Young Makers” at NYC’s World Maker Faire. Raven defines being a maker as “being honored” and is excited that “you get to teach everybody else how to make anything they want.”
